Investor Suitability

Is this fund right for you?

Suitable for

This fund is designed for equity investors with a medium-to-long-term investment horizon who are seeking capital appreciation predominantly through equity and equity-related instruments, combined with limited tactical short exposure via derivatives to pursue risk-adjusted returns over conventional long-only strategies. The fund is positioned for high-net-worth investors, with a minimum investment of Rs. 10,00,000 (or Rs. 1,00,000 for Accredited Investors).

Market Scenario Performance

How this fund may behave across cycles

In Bull Markets

In rising markets, the fund's long book — which can be deployed up to 100% of assets through a flexicap, sector-agnostic, bottom-up stock-selection approach — is designed to fully participate in equity market upside, aiming to outperform the BSE 500 TRI benchmark on a risk-adjusted basis.

In Bear Markets

In falling markets, the fund's tactical short book — up to 25% of assets, deployed via derivatives against stocks showing fundamental weakness such as earnings downgrades, overvaluation, balance sheet stress or governance concerns — is designed to act as a cushion against market declines, aiming to deliver lower volatility than diversified equity funds and more resilient, risk-adjusted returns than conventional long-only strategies.

In Sideways Markets

In range-bound or directionless markets, the fund's bottom-up stock selection and tactical short positioning are designed to capture returns from the dispersion between individual winning and losing stocks, rather than relying solely on the direction of the broader index.

Where Does This Fund Fit?

Understanding the fund's role in your portfolio

Where it fits in your portfolio

Summit Equity Long-Short Fund is designed as a differentiated, tax-efficient equity allocation for portfolios that want the return potential of equity investing combined with derivatives-based downside management — bridging the gap between traditional mutual funds and alternative investment vehicles like PMS and AIFs, while remaining within the SEBI-regulated, mutual-fund tax framework.

Taxation

How returns from this fund are taxed

Summit Equity Long-Short Fund is taxed at par with equity mutual funds. Short-term capital gains (units held up to 12 months) are taxed at 20%, while long-term capital gains (units held more than 12 months) are taxed at 12.5% (no indexation), with the first Rs. 1,25,000 of long-term gains in a financial year exempt.

As disclosed by the AMC. Consult a tax advisor for your specific situation.
