Regular plan, growth option. Returns are absolute (not annualised), point to point to the latest NAV. Max fall is the largest peak-to-trough drop over the ranking window. Risk level is SEBI's risk band (1 lowest, 5 highest). BER is the Regular-plan base expense ratio: the AMC's annual fee, before brokerage, transaction costs and statutory levies including GST, which the total expense ratio (TER) adds. How we rank SIFs
- Ranked by return. Point-to-point NAV return over the chosen period, highest first. The default is 3-month; you can switch to 1-month, 3-month, 6-month and 1-year.
- Same window for every fund. All funds are measured over identical dates ending on the latest NAV. Since-launch return is not used for ranking, because SIFs launched months apart and older funds would get an unfair head start.
- Grouped by strategy. Funds are only ranked against others in the same SEBI strategy. Each strategy has a different mandate (for example, a hybrid long-short fund must hold at least 25% in debt), so funds from different strategies are not compared with each other.
- Eligibility. A full track record for the chosen period. Funds launched more recently are listed as “too new to rank”.
- Tie-break. Smaller fall from peak over the same window.
- Data. Daily NAVs published by AMFI for the regular plan, growth option. Nothing is self-reported by fund houses. Recalculated after every NAV update.
Short windows can reverse quickly. Check the max fall, risk level and the other periods alongside the rank. Longer periods appear here automatically as funds build longer histories.
A ranking is not a recommendation
SIFs need a minimum of ₹10 lakh and suit investors who can live with higher risk than a mutual fund. Talk to a SIF specialist to understand how the strategies work and what they involve, or consult a SEBI-registered investment adviser for personalised advice.
Frequently asked questions
Which is the best SIF in India right now?
It depends on the strategy you want. Ranked by 3-month return within each SEBI strategy as of 12 Oct 2026, the top performers are isif Equity Long-Short Fund (Equity Long-Short), DynaSIF Equity Ex-Top 100 Long - Short Fund (Equity Ex-Top 100 Long-Short), qsif Hybrid Long-Short Fund (Hybrid Long-Short) and qsif Active Asset Allocator Long-Short Fund (Active Asset Allocator Long-Short). Choose the strategy that matches your risk appetite first, then compare funds within it.
How many SIFs are there in India?
SIFcase tracks 34 Specialised Investment Funds (regular plan, growth option) from 17 fund houses managing ₹38,287 Cr (AMFI, September 2026), across 5 strategies. 28 have a full 3-month track record; 6 launched too recently.
How does SIFcase rank SIFs?
Funds are ranked by trailing return, highest first, and only against other funds in the same SEBI strategy, because each strategy has a different SEBI mandate: a hybrid long-short fund, for example, must hold at least 25% in debt, so comparing it with an equity long-short fund would not be like for like. The default view ranks by 3-month return; you can switch to 1-month, 3-month, 6-month and 1-year return. Every fund is measured over the same window ending on the latest NAV date, so older funds get no advantage from a longer history. Ties are broken by the smaller fall from peak over the same window. All figures come from daily AMFI NAVs for the regular plan, growth option.
Is this ranking updated daily?
Yes. The ranking is recalculated automatically every time new NAVs are published by AMFI, so the order, returns and the 'data as of' date always reflect the latest trading day.
Why are some SIFs not ranked?
A fund needs a full track record for the chosen period. For example, a fund launched two months ago has no 3-month return yet. Those funds are listed under their strategy as "too new to rank" and join the ranking automatically once they qualify.
What is the minimum investment in a SIF?
SEBI's SIF framework sets a minimum investment of ₹10 lakh per investor across all SIF strategies of a fund house (accredited investors are exempt). SIFs are meant for investors who can take higher risk than a regular mutual fund.
Is the top-ranked SIF right for me?
Not necessarily. A ranking compares short-term past returns; it does not know your goals, horizon or existing portfolio. The 2-minute SIFcase questionnaire shows which SIF strategy categories match your answers; for personalised advice, consult a SEBI-registered investment adviser.
